Finding a therapist you feel comfortable working with is important. If you think that could be me, please get in touch.

Introductory phone call or email

The first step is for you to get in touch by phone or email and for us to have a no-obligation conversation to discuss practicalities, for example to see if our availability matches, to confirm you are able to commit to weekly therapy at the same time and place, to agree the fees and discuss any questions or concerns you have.

Initial consultation

If you are happy to continue, we will arrange an initial consultation to meet and see if we might work well together.

We can meet in person or online for the full appointment at my usual rate.  Or if you would like to have a brief chat first, then I offer a free 15 minute video call.

If I don't feel like I am best placed to help, then I can assist with making a referral to another therapist or service.

How therapy works

Therapy works best when it takes place regularly, each week.

Depending on the issues you want to look at, we might agree to meet on a short term basis  (8-12 sessions), or on an open-ended basis. I usually work with clients on a long term (1 year +), open-ended basis.   This helps to ensure that problems can be explored in-depth, at your own pace and not within a prescribed formula or timeframe.   There will be regular reviews to ensure therapy continues to be productive and beneficial for you.

Weekly appointments

If the initial consultation went well and you want to continue, the next step is to agree on a regular weekly appointment time.  Sessions will last for 50 minutes and will be at the same time and day each week.

Unfortunately I do not work on a fortnightly, monthly or ad hoc basis.
